- Tyre Advisory and Integrated Systems, trading as Tyre Services Nigeria (“TSN”), was formed in October 2015. The owner is Hugh Parkes, of South Africa.
- TSN was engaged by the Cement Division of the Dangote Group to introduce a Tyre Management System into their cement truck fleet and to manage their tyres, to reduce the cost of usage.
- In order to implement the tyre management system, it was necessary to implement a proper tyre care and maintenance program.
- Working thorough the National Automotive Council, it was established that there was little or no knowledge of proper tyre care and maintenance. There were no properly qualified tyre fitment personnel available in Nigeria and no expertise in tyre management.
- TSN started operations in the Obajana Cement plant of Dangote and has opened another operation in Ibese
- TSN has plans to expand their operations and customer base beyond that of the Dangote Group, and in order to do that TSN will have to initially, for the next three to five years employ trained and experiences Team Leader outside Nigeria, as there are no suitable qualified Nigerians who can fill those position.
- The ratio of Nigerians to ex patriots is at least 5 to 7 Nigerians to one expatriate.
- In the overall financial gain, for every tyre TSN gets extended life from, the lower will the import requirements for tyres be, as no new tyres are manufactured in Nigeria.
